questioned whether or not this Basenor dashboard cover is genuine leather when I first opened the box-and I’m still unsure. There is no leather smell-but it does state that in the listing. The surface of the cover is uniform, no blemishes or inconsistencies that you usually associate with real leather. On the other hand it stretches like real leather. The listing states that the cover is 100% recyclable. Recyclable leather? I didn’t know if there was such a thing. Google says that recyclable leather is leather scraps left over after making a leather product. Surely if this cover was made of scraps there would be imperfections, where joining pieces had occurred? So, after all that I still don’t know! Then I decided that it didn’t really matter as this Tesla Model Y dashboard cover ticks all the boxes in areas where it does matter. This is a beautifully made product. It is soft, supple and moulds itself to the dashboard without the use of the stickers. Initially I laid it out on my coffee table and the creases from being in the box disappeared within an hour or so. For curiosities sake I would like to know if this cover started life walking in a field. It doesn’t really matter though, this is an excellent product regardless.

This dashboard cover designed model Y, prevent the dashboard from any signs of wear and tear. Installation is pretty straightforward- I laid the dashboard cover and left it overnight on the top of the dashboard, for it to get the memory of the shape of the dashboard. In the morning once everything was okay I installed for adhesive velcro tapes on each side. This way I could easily remove it give it a nice brush to clean it up and put it back again. The package also includes user booklet contains advice about the installation steps and maintenance as well. There are few links as well with the QR codes. I tried following the installation video QR code link, which led me to the installation page, with installations for a different from this manufacturer, but I couldn't find a particular video for board cover. Manual also contains the QR code with the link to the customer service.

This dash cover is a snug fit, well made and finished. It takes a few days to flatten out and looks perfect once fitted. Although some have said you could use it without the adhesive tabs I really do think the fit is much better with them as it definitely stays put when you have to stop quickly or go up steep inclines. That said the underside does create some friction and stops it from sliding for the most part. It compliments the interior, and protects the dash from wear, cracking caused by UV light and reflections and glare which can be off putting. I’m pretty sure that come summer I’ll be very happy with my order when I’m not being dazzled by the sun. It’s a lot more affordable than forking out for a sun damaged dash repair, looks great, is practical but stylish and great value in my opinion. I hope you find my review helpful.

There aren’t a lot of extras/variables when you order a Tesla (external colour, internal colour and wheels) and so lots of owners like to add extras and accessories to make their car a little different to the rest! There’s a lot of plastic (it’s called Vegan Leather) and artificial wood grain/flock type finishes on the inside and so using various covers etc can make this look/feel a little less stark and a little more individual. Regardless - its a wonderful car and that’s why is such a big seller! This cover is designed to be used to cover the space between the front of the “dashboard” (there’s isn’t a dashboard - but Tesla owners will know what I mean) and the windscreen - it’s matt black and is designed to reduce any glare from this area. It comes semi rolled/folded (which makes sense) but because of this it doesn’t really lie flat when you first install it. The instructions suggest that if you are concerned about any lack of flatness (can’t really call them creases - more like ripples) they you should leave it in the sun for a few days - which is nowhere near as simple as it sounds if you live in the UK!!!!. It comes with a couple of double sided velcro pads that you can use to get it to stay in place (and presumably create a bit more tension and so stretch out the ripples) but I’m not prepared to use anything self adhesive (and which might not easily remove or which might mark the original upholstery) on my Tesla. There are some non-slip “bobbles” on the rear that will stop it from moving around but these are not enough to keep it taught and ripple free. I’ve had other Tesla accessories from this company that are particularly well made and fit the car amazingly well - but this doesn’t feel as well thought out. If you buy it in the Summer and you can leave it to in the sun to remove the ripples and you don’t mind sticking bits of velcro on your can upholstery and you absolutely must hove something in place to protect this front area of your car then it may be for you - but I couldn’t get it to look particularly good in my Model Y.

Wer kennt es nicht: die Ehefau oder der Beifahrer stellt etwas auf das Amaturenbrett, passt nicht auf, und schon ist die das Amaturenbrett versaut. Das ist vorbei mit dieser Ablage aus Leder bzw. Kunstleder. Die Ränder sind ordentlich abgesteppt. Die Rückseite ist genoppt, so dass die Abdeckung nicht verrutscht. Auf den Bildern ist die Ablage nur aufgelgt und ganz neu. Daher ist sie noch leicht wellig. Es sind 4 doppelseitige Klebepunkte beigelegt, um die Abdeckung in gestrafften Zustand zu fixieren. Die Abdeckung ist passgenau. Alles in allem, kann ich diese Abdeckung voll empfehlen und gebe gerne fünf Sterne.
